- A desktop computer is a desk or workbench that is often used by a personal computer for a location on or near a location due to its size and power requirements. The most common configurations are a power supply enclosure, motherboard, disk storage drive, solid state drive, optical drive, early model floppy drive); keyboard and mouse for input; and computer monitor, speaker, and usually for output printer.
The internal components of all-in-one desktop computer systems are integrated into the same situation as a display, thus occupying a smaller volume (with fewer cables) than being incorporated into the tower desktop.
This all-in-one form factor became popular in the early 1980s for professional-purpose personal computers, and many manufacturers of home computers like Commodore and Atari put the computer motherboard and keyboard in the same enclosure; these systems are usually connected to TV set for display
